The Lapeer County Concert Choir

The Lapeer County Concert Choir has been performing since 1968, known for its performances of large sacred works such as Bach's "Magnificat", Handel's "Messiah", Rutter's "Requiem", and Mozart's "Regina Coeli".

As the choir moves toward its 51th year, the goal remains to promote the advancement of choral music, and reveal the healing power of voices united in song.

If you wish to join us, we rehearse on Monday nights in Lapeer at the Trinity Methodist Church.

Dear Friends and Fellow Choral Musicians,

I am very excited about the beginning of our 52nd fall season, The Majesty and Glory of Handel’s Messiah, and your commitment to sing with us this choral masterwork and other musical selections for our fall concerts.  As I begin my fourth season with the Lapeer County Concert Choir, I have high musical expectations for our rehearsals and performances of Messiah.  During our first three years you have continued to amaze me how you rise to the occasion to meet the musical challenges put before you.  It is very rewarding to me to hear you sing as the choir continues its tradition of striving for choral excellence.

Each singer in our group brings a level of musicianship that contributes to the choral sound and excellence of our choir.  Each person in our choir has a special gift that contributes to the personality of our choir.  It is my goal that as a choir we encourage each other to grow musically and personally during our time together.  Choral music is unique in that it allows singers from diverse backgrounds and experiences to come together and create musical expressions comparable to a professional orchestra.

As we look forward to a wonderful season of music making our 52nd spring season, The Majesty of Brahms’ Requiem, will explore the biblical words of encouragement and comfort set to the moving and uplifting music of Johannes Brahms.  Brahms’ A German Requiem is another of the great choral masterworks that has the emotional power to move its performers and audiences to an experience that cannot be expressed in words.  The music for our fall season will communicate the message of hope fulfilled followed by a spring season with a message of comfort and encouragement.  As a choir, we have the opportunity to impact our community with words of hope and encouragement.

I would like to close by giving you a brief insight to our 53rd season.

The guiding theme for this season with be Reflections of ….  It will be an opportunity for us to musically reflect on past life experiences that remind of us of what is important.  I am looking forward to working and talking with each of you throughout the year.
